The idea for the Children's Memorial came from a number of sources, but was primarily inspired because of the harsh reality of the loss of precious and innocent life. The emotional and spiritual journey of parents, siblings, and extended family and friends who mourn such a loss provokes the greatest challenge to even the strongest faith.
Pastors, family and friends are called at these difficult moments to offer the very essence of pastoral ministry, familial love and authentic friendship as they surround those who experience such a loss. If we are to follow the example of Christ to love one another as He has loved us, it is at times such as this that we have the opportunity to live His example for someone we care about and assure them of the embrace of Jesus and the children who come to him.
Despite the pain and grief, known by those who feel the loss of a child, there are heroic and inspirational stories of people who found consolation in their faith. The inspiration for Children's Memorial came from such people who amidst great sadness, professed a faith in Christ and speaking for themselves and many others who just couldn't find the words. This monument is dedicated to all of you. May it be a place of peace and prayer and represent the hope that only authentic faith offers.
